New U.S. Customs Duties – What It Means for Your Orders
New U.S. Tariffs – What It Means for Your Orders
If you live in the United States, this update concerns you directly — and unfortunately, it’s not the kind of news we like to share.
The U.S. government has recently implemented new customs tariffs. As we are based in France, our handmade products will be affected by a 15% customs duty when imported into the U.S.
The Current Situation
For the moment, most of our shipments to the U.S. fall under the de minimis exemption: orders valued at less than $800 USD are not subject to customs duties. This is why you have not yet seen any impact on your orders.
Unfortunately, this exemption will end on August 29, 2025.
What Happens After August 29?
After this date, we expect changes, but the exact impact remains uncertain. Here’s what we know so far:
-
We currently ship via La Poste in France, which then hands over parcels to USPS.
-
It is possible that future parcels will be held at your local post office until you pay the customs fee.
-
Based on the new rules, a $100 order could incur:
-
$15 USD customs duty (15%)
-
Around $10 USD USPS processing fee
-
-
In the worst-case scenario, a flat $80 USD fee could be applied.
We are also exploring alternative shipping partners such as UPS and DHL. However, these services are significantly more expensive than our current €13 flat-rate for U.S. deliveries.
Why We Can’t Store Products in the U.S.
Our products are made-to-order and crafted in France. This artisanal approach ensures the highest quality and allows for customization — but it also means we cannot store inventory abroad to avoid customs fees.
Expect Possible Delays
USPS officials have already voiced concerns about managing the flood of additional parcels once the exemption ends — making delays in processing almost inevitable.
Our Recommendation
If you are considering placing an order, we strongly advise you to do so before
August 25, 2025, to ensure your shipment is processed and shipped before the new rules take effect.
